The Houston Dynamo remain second in the MLS Western Conference following a 1-0 road loss to the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday night. Despite controlling the majority of possession and registering more shots on target, Houston was unable to capitalize on its opportunities and came away from the road fixture without any points.

San Jose broke the deadlock in the 38th minute when Beau Leroux found Daniel Munie inside the crowded penalty area, with Munie finishing to give the Earthquakes a 1-0 lead.

The Dynamo created several dangerous moments throughout the match. Houston came close in the 31st minute when winger Aliyu Ibrahim tested the San Jose defense, while another promising opportunity came in the 60th minute when Guilherme delivered a dangerous diagonal set piece toward the corner of the six-yard box. Earthquakes goalkeeper Angus Gunn was able to keep Houston off the scoresheet and preserve the shutout.

The Dynamo will look to bounce back at home when Shell Energy Stadium hosts FC Cincinnati on Saturday, Sept. 19.
