Dynamo Rescue a Point in Minnesota with Stoppage-Time Equalizer

Houston Dynamo FC staged a dramatic comeback to earn a 2-2 road draw against Minnesota United FC, as forwards Lyle Foster and Duncan McGuire scored their first goals for the club. Foster opened the scoring in the 18th minute after pressuring Minnesota defender Michael Boxall into a turnover before dribbling into the penalty area and finishing. However, Minnesota responded through Kelvin Yeboah in the 48th minute before Marcus Caldeira put the hosts ahead in the 78th minute, leaving Houston facing a late defeat.

With the Dynamo trailing, McGuire delivered the equalizer in second-half stoppage time, heading the ball past Minnesota goalkeeper Drake Callender. The play began with Mateusz Bogusz finding Nick Markanich at the far post, who directed a header toward McGuire for the finish. Markanich recorded his first assist of the season, completing a dramatic rescue for Houston and securing a valuable point on the road.

The match marked the 15th time in Dynamo history that two players scored their first goals for the club in the same game. Interestingly, the previous occurrence also came against Minnesota in May last year. Houston goalkeeper Jonathan Bond made two important first-half saves, denying Yeboah’s header and Wil Trapp’s long-range effort before leaving with an injury in the 75th minute. Blake Gillingham replaced the veteran goalkeeper, making his fifth career MLS appearance. The match also marked the first time twins Nick and Anthony Markanich shared an MLS pitch.

The Dynamo have now avoided defeat in 11 of their last 14 matches since returning from the World Cup break. Despite surrendering their lead and falling behind late, Houston showed resilience to leave Minnesota with a draw. The team will continue its two-match road trip Wednesday, October 14, against San Diego FC at Snapdragon Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. CT, with coverage available on Apple TV.
